Artist Statement
The pursuit of creation is my true passion, especially in the realm of abstract art where I employ acrylics and mixed mediums, incorporating molding gels and pastes. These textured paintings often feature discarded objects, natural stones, gold leaf, and fragments of jewelry, creating a rich tapestry. Some pieces necessitate unconventional techniques, such as using a sander or alcohol to selectively remove paint, introducing additional layers and depth. This artistic process is an immersive journey, relying on fundamental elements like shapes, forms, shadows, colors, and values. Through a delicate dance of addition and subtraction, these elements coalesce into a captivating vision of beauty, joy, and calmness. In my perspective, the objects within these paintings serve as symbolic representations of the pollutants that humans introduce to the earth. I aim to convey that art can transcend mere aesthetic appeal; it can address environmental concerns, promote conservation, advocate for sustainability, and champion preservation. Simultaneously, art has the power to reconnect us with nature, allowing us to revel in its astounding beauty. Using color and form as my language, each layer of my work pulsates with emotion, a result of the expressive movement in my brushwork. Achieving a constant balance of aesthetics is my overarching goal, and I find great joy when viewers share their diverse interpretations. Recognizing that everyone brings their unique life experiences, emotions, and inspirations to their perceptions, I am excited to see the varied ways in which my work resonates with different individuals.
